". . . but I have MILES TO GO before I sleep, miles to go before I sleep." Robert Frost
3 bad words : Lake Effect Snow
man, yesterday was a long day, 4 1/2 hours to go 140 miles in the snow and wind of north Indiana. No problems in the long run other than inconveniences (tough to get under or get out from under a loaded trailer when you are on ice). Plenty of cars off the road (2 lane US 6 mostly) but nothing serious. Prediction was for 1-3 inches but I think by the time it was over late at night, it totaled about 5 or 6 inches plus higher drifts.
This morning was clear blue sky and almost like an entirely different place as I drove back over the route I had taken east yesterday (Illinois past Chicago, across Indiana to Ft. Wayne, then into Ohio farther SE towards Marion (north of Columbus). Thought tonite might be a breather - maybe even a motel to catch Monster Garage and Monster House on cable, but they have me running Galesburg Ohio to Chattanooga between tomorrow morning and Monday morning. So tonite I'm bending rules and riding bobtail (no trailer, just the tractor) over towards western Illinois so I can get a decent start in the morning Sunday and avoid having to get a REALLY early start Monday.
At least I'm back on dry roads!
