". . . but I have MILES TO GO before I sleep, miles to go before I sleep." Robert Frost
A Fresh Day !
Had my required break not far from the accident scene and started out on a sunny morning now enroute to Illinois. Immediately had bad news that I-70 in Md. was shut down for a Haz-Mat related accident. Great, a 10 mile 30 minute delay. Got around the problem area near Frederick, MD and moved on up to the PA turnpike where the weather turned gray and I was soon in a snow blizzard atop one of the many mountain ridges the highway crosses. Word was one of the tunnels was closed due to ice (it is only 15 degrees today) but luckily it was open by the time I got there. The snow wasn't much of a problem as the wind was blowing and it didn't accumlate much on the road surface. I continued on across Ohio with no problems and am bedded down at a truckstop near the Indiana border.
The bad weather the other day while I was seeing the ice in Indiana and Ohio resulted in a horrific crash in Pennsylvania (near Hazleton) that is all over the news and the c.b. chatter today. Something like 30 cars and 20 trucks encounted white-out conditions and created a chain-reaction accident that has shut down the interstate for the past full day. I think I heard about 3 people were killed, possibly in a fire that raged all night long. I don't know if I might have confused today's accident with the PA pile-up and fire, but I think I heard the fire involved Haz-Mat and that is why it was allowed to burn as they had not identified the materials.
I'm back-dating this post becasue I am writing it on the laptop to post tomorrow when I get to a WiFi location. I'm mentioning that because it is because I am not on-line right now that I can't confirm the information about either of those events. (or for that matter, of the fatal accident in MD yesterday).
Dad, I imagine the Denton area accident probably made your local papers Wednesday morning or afternoon.
