". . . but I have MILES TO GO before I sleep, miles to go before I sleep." Robert Frost

It Was Bound To Happen
woke earlier than planned again and went across Missouri to KC. Nice nite with a great 3/4 moon setting into the fog over the Missouri River - would have made a great photo! Dropped my trailer extra early, got the next one at the distribution warehouse and was headed on surface streets to our terminal in North KC. I stoped at a traffic light that allowed the exit traffic from I-635 to merge into the east bound lane. A tanker was coming down the ramp and apparently was going too fast. Let me say that no one was hurt, and I was not at fault! He must have felt the tanker begin to roll cause instead of continuing to curve to the right and go thru the light, he straightened the rig, went over the left curb, side swiped a telephone pole with the right side of his tanker and somehow avoided slamming into the back of my truck. He DID however, cream it with the tanker! The damage from the pole and the damage to the rear of my trailer (it ripped off the rear portion and tore free the axles) was incredible and the noise was awful. Shreiking of metal, sparks flying, my freight flying out into the road. I was scared for a moment that it had been a gasoline tanker but the escalation of the noise told me otherwise. Man it sounded like millions of explosions going off back there and I was tempted to jump out of the truck before the cab even stopped rocking. We both were transported to the hospital for hearing difficulties but they say it will be only a temporary problem as the eardrums recover from the shattering noise. It was after all a milk tanker, and my load of Rice Krispies, you never heard SNAP CRACKEL POP like that in your life! April Fools !!
