". . . but I have MILES TO GO before I sleep, miles to go before I sleep." Robert Frost

My Old Year's Pome
2003 : A Recap
winter was colder, much colder than the year before
driving for Sunflower, is getting to be a bore!
fun in March, with my annual Ireland trip
tracked down the family castle! in County Tipp*.
Returned to the road, but got bored again,
so I quit, and hit , the road for fun.
So I got hit, but didn't quit, my cross-country ride,
a bit banged up, no skin off my hide.
Got home, still bored, so decided to stay awhile,
spent the summer with Mom, and Sal, couch-potato style!
Got the hankering for more road-trippin' and off I went,
out to California, on a genealogy bent.
Right town, wrong ghost,
but if you want to hear about Pete Kelly,
mine supervisor 1880,
I probably know the most!
Headed for Texas, and some job interviews,
woke up one morning and couldn't wear my shoe!
Bad case of Staph, and an Austin hospital became home,
foot up in the air, tough way to roam!
Back to Maryland, and when back on my feet,
back to PA, to go trucking for Crete.
Love the new job, always on the go,
but wouldn't you know it, it's another cold winter, with plenty of snow!

next year, to keep up with me, I make it easy :

*the castle (Curraghtarsna) was built and occupied by the ancestors of Mary Hackett Murray, grandmother of Walter Murray. The Hackett family was a Catholic English clan that arrived in Ireland in the 1100's.
